(X,Y,Z)’s young studio has just moved into these new offices, centrally located in Birkirkara. The studio was designed using natural materials whilst maximizing the use of the space. It was imperative for the offices to be clean and elegant but also radiating a positive fun vibe reflecting its young team.
On entrance, a dark stairwell leads you up to the studio cocoon. The stark contrast and its darkness represent the transition from the clutter and disorganization of the city environs to the fresh and creative design studio. The dim source of light that leads you up the flight simply creates a soft, diffused and reflected trail of light. This psychological transition is deemed important for both the team and the visitors alike.
Beyond that point, the place floods with natural light. (X,Y,Z) believes in the exposure to natural light as it is considered a priority for both the physical and psychological health and well-being to the users. Natural light aids the mood and alertness and hence the overall team spirit and productivity within the office. White surfaces have been chosen for the design and drawing offices, also to maximize the reflection of natural light. On the gloomier days, the user is able to control a user-dimmable glare free lamp forming an artificial skylight above the desk clusters.
A grey durable concrete floor sets the canvas to all the activities within the office, whilst the introduction of custom wood cabinetry warms up the space. Wall to wall, floor to ceiling oak cabinetry was designed to maximize storage space, and also conceal the unsightly peripherals when not in use.
A dark perforated steel mesh forms the backdrop of the hallway and partly conceals another flight of Carrara marble stairs that leads you to a spacious boardroom which floods with natural light. This can be easily dimmed out with thick sheers for more seclusion or during presentation meetings. The soft fabrics add a home-living-room ambiance to the space enhancing its users to be more at ease and relaxed during lengthy meetings.
